The Friday Five - January 19th, 2024

Hi, friends! Welcome to the first Friday Five of 2024! Let's get started on this week's Friday Five.

1. It's definitely been a hot minute since I've written a post, and I'm so glad to be back. The end of 2023 and the holidays were a total whirlwind, and such a busy few months for me. I also got really sick for pretty much the whole month of December into the New Year, which really put a damper on things. I'm so glad to finally be feeling like myself again, and love the fresh start of a new year. I'm already so excited to see what 2024 has in store! What are some of your goals for the new year? Are resolutions still a thing?

2. It's awards season!

Other than the holidays, this is my favorite time of year! I love tuning in to see which show, film or artist will win the coveted golden statue. I have to say that between both films and TV shows, the line up this year is pretty great. One of my favorite films I've seen this year is Past Lives, so I'm rooting for them to win! What is on your prediction list for the awards this year?

3. Starting off the year with a fresh planner from Simplified!

Keep your eyes peeled here on my blog, and on my social media pages for a really exciting piece of content that I have been dying to share with you all for quite some time now! I've hinted about this previously, but now it's officially coming this weekend!

I am SO excited to share eight books I read and reviewed, all featuring a curvy/plus-sized heroine at the center of the love story. Both covers shown here may or may not be featured ;). I can't wait!

5. Two shows that I've recently been obsessed with!

If you're a fan of murder mysteries or dramatic miniseries, these shows are perfect for you. I've been a longtime True Detective fan, and I am SO freaking excited that they are back for another season, this time with one of my favorite actors - Jodie Foster. They've only premiered the first episode, but I can already tell it's about to be insanely good. It's streaming on HBO.

Another show that I recently got into thanks to the Emmy's, is Black Bird. It's inspired by a true story from the 90's, and involves a deal made with the FBI to get a confession from a serial killer in exchange for an exonerated prison sentence. I don't want to give too much away, but let me tell you that every episode has me on the edge of my seat. It's currently streaming on Apple TV+.
