Hi, friends! It's been a few weeks since I've posted a Friday Five. I have a few things I've wanted to share today, so let's get into it.
I've been quieter out of respect for the current events.
You'd have to be living with a paper bag over your head to not notice everything happening in the world. And to be quite honest, very little else matters compared to what some people in our world are facing right this second. It seems really tone deaf to not hold space for all the suffering right now, so I wanted to take a few weeks and reflect, pray and take action for everyone in the Middle East who is suffering at the hands of terrorism and power-hungry governments.
2. Trying to chase things that bring joy
I don't know about you, but during these really heart-breaking times in our world, it's really easy to slump into an unhealthy mental space. I have a tendency to "doom-scroll" as they call it, meaning scroll the news and internet for hours, consuming bad news after bad news. It's not a good habit of mine, and I've purposely been trying to put my phone down and find things that bring me joy. If you're also feeling this way, I encourage you to chase things that bring you joy. For me personally, those things look like: spending the evenings after work connecting with my husband; my therapy appointments; reading a book that makes me happy; creating content for Follow The Curve; spending time with a friend; mental health walks around Chicago taking in the fall foliage. Whatever that looks like for you, I invite you to turn off the news and give it a try.
3. A few favorites from 30 Days of Outfits
If you're following me on Instagram or TikTok, you've probably been seeing that I'm doing a super series called 30 Days of Outfits. It's pretty much exactly what it sounds like, where I post different outfits in my closet that I love for 30 days. I wanted to share a few of my favorites here, since I've been having so much fun with this (chasing joy!).
I will also link up everything that I'm wearing, so if something catches your eye you can browse for yourself.
4. Curvy/plus-sized heroine books - post coming soon!
I've spent the last few months reading a bunch of books that center around a heroine that is curvy/plus-sized, and I'm working on a blog post featuring all of my favorites! I've fallen in love with these books and characters, and can't wait to share them with you all soon! Keep your eyes out for that post coming in the next few weeks!
5. Where you can browse more of my favorite looks
I had a few followers and friends ask where they can shop more of my favorite looks that I post here and on social media. I have a profile on LikeToKnowIt, where I post a lot of them there, and link up the pieces I'm wearing. LikeToKnowIt also has an app you can download where you can follow me and all your other favorite creators, and everything is linked there.
But of course, that's totally your option. If you want a direct link to my LikeToKnowIt page, click here.
That does it for this week! Have a great weekend, my friends!
XO
Megan
