What I've Been Up To Lately + A Blogging Milestone

Updated: Feb 2, 2022

Hi friends!

So, it’s been a minute. I wish I had a better excuse as to why I’ve been MIA from my own blog, other than life just getting in the way. This late fall and early winter has been very eventful and at times very stressful, and I am grateful for the New Year for a chance at a clean slate, and to settle in to the calm of winter. Here’s a little bit of what I’ve been up to since I last posted.

1. I got COVID-19.

Unfortunately over Thanksgiving weekend my husband were around some unvaccinated family members, who ended up infecting us with the Delta variant of COVID. Needless to say it was NOT fun, even being fully vaccinated. My husband got off mostly easy, mainly feeling very fatigued and dealing with headaches. I had 3 days of a low-grade fever, horrible congestion, and ended up losing my taste & smell for a week. I am so thankful that being vaccinated kept us out of the hospital and out of grave danger, but it definitely wasn’t something I would like to relive again. The recovery process definitely took some time, so it felt like the last month of 2021 I was playing catch up trying to recover from that infection.

2. I went to my first blogger event!

On a much more positive note, I was so excited to attend to my first event as a Chicago-based style blogger! The event was hosted by an amazing online platform called Cue The Curves, which celebrates plus-size women & content creators. It was so great to meet other Chicago-based creators, and celebrate our community! A huge goal of mine with this blog has been to make like-minded friends & form a community, which hasn’t been easy in COVID times, so I was very thankful to be included in this event! We also got to model clothes from a size-inclusive boutique called Pretty And All. They have the cutest freaking clothes, and the store owner shared a 15% discount code for my followers! Click here to shop the boutique, and use code BEAUTIFUL at check out!

The beanie & shacket are both from Pretty And All Boutique!

3. I helped my best friend get married!

My best friend Rachel married the love of her life on December 18th, and her wedding day was on the best days of my life! Few things are better than getting to stand next to your best friend on their wedding day, and hers was no exception. It was a Christmas wedding, and I felt like I literally stepped into a Hallmark Christmas movie. Her and Nick both looked freaking gorgeous, the venue was decorated perfectly, and we ended the night by dancing to “All I Want For Christmas Is You” before sending them off with sparklers as they rode off in a limo. Talk about perfection. I am so excited to get the professional photos back, but until then enjoy some shots DeAndre & I snapped! Many a tears were shed that day, and I am so excited for the two of them on the beginning on their love story together.

4. I celebrated Christmas in Chicago with my husband!

My husband & I had Christmas in Chicago just the two of us, and it was so wonderful. We did Christmas Eve Mass at a church nearby, and then went to Steak 48 after for food and drinks. With everything going on it was so nice to stay close to home and have a mellow holiday together, These quiet moments are truly memories I cherish most.

5. Follow The Curve turns one today!

I had to save the best & most exciting for last – Follow The Curve is officially one year old as of today! A year ago on January 10th, I hit publish on my website, uploaded my first post & made it officially official. I was doing the damn thing. I know it’s so corny to say that this past year has been a lot of ups & downs, but it’s true. Making this dream happen has been exhausting & time-consuming, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. I’m here to create change, and make space & visibility, and this is just the start. Here’s to this next year, and beyond!
