My Return to Blogging & What I've Been Up To

Hi, friends!

Wow, it's been a minute (and then some). My break from blogging was not totally intentional, but I am so excited to be back at it. My little corner of the internet is such a great creative outlet for me, and I've missed it a lot. And even more exciting - this is my first blog post on my new and updated website!

My dear & talented friend Taylor is super badass when it comes to designing websites, and gave mine a much needed face lift! Feel free to poke around and explore my new site and updated photos.

Now that I'm back, I'm going to be making an effort to post at least a few times a week, including my weekly Friday Fives!

But here is a little bit of what I've been up to since my last post:

I Went to Spain!

My brother & sister-in-law finally had their dream wedding in Spain. After 2 years of postponements thanks to The Rona, we were all finally able to travel to Alicante, Spain and make it happen! The week was a total exhausting whirlwind, but it was so special and the wedding was stunning. The entire trip went so well, and we ate, drank and explored our way through the country! The Spanish people are so kind & welcoming, especially my sister in law's friends and family. I was so proud of myself for studying Spanish with Duolingo before we left, and I am happy to report that I was able to communicate with the locals (it took some time though!). Also, traveling there totally reignited my wanderlust and the travel bug within me, and I'm already planning my next trip!

I Did A Girls Trip to See My BFF!

After months of not seeing each other, I was so thrilled to be able to spend time with my best friend Rachel! Rachel lives in Austin, TX, so we have a long-distance best friendship (AKA the saddest thing in the world), but last month I got to see her, and it was exactly what my soul needed. It was five days of shopping, bookstore hopping, obsessing over romance novels, and of course nonstop laughter. Rachel is my true soul sister, and I am so blessed that we were able to make this time together work!

I Went to Michigan!

Are you sensing a travel theme here? I literally haven't stopped moving the past 2 months. But the last trip for a while was hopping over to Detroit to visit DeAndre & I's families for the long 4th of July weekend. After a busy past few months it was so nice to relax with our parents, lounge by the pool and SLEEP IN! We got to meet our new niece on DeAndre's side, sweet Peyton, and hang out with our other precious niece and nephew at a family BBQ. The entire weekend was exactly what the doctor ordered!

I've Been Taking A Lot of Time For My Mental Health

I don't need to tell you that there is a lot happening in the world today, so much so that it's really starting to take its toll on my mental health. I can't even open social media or turn on the TV without being bombarded by constant bad news, protesting, arguing and negativity. To be transparent, I'm just trying to figure out how to be a human through all of this, and how to find a "normal" routine through life. It's a lot of up and down, and a constant juggling act. Sometimes it means escaping with a good book, sometimes it means spending time with loved ones, sometimes it means shutting down my phone for the day, and sometimes it means going on a trip and getting a change of scenery. I don't have one answer that will fix everything, but I do know that I'm just trying to wake up each day and choose joy.

That's about everything for now, my friends. I am so excited to be back behind the keyboard and returning to this blog. If you haven't subscribed to my blog yet, head to the bottom of the homepage and add in your email address so you can be notified every time a new post is added.

Remember to be kind to yourself.

XO

Meg
