Hi, friends! I'm back!
I know, I know, it's been a while since I've posted a single thing on this blog (like almost ten months!), but I'm so happy to be back at it. I was thinking about writing a full post all about what's happened since then, and all the curve balls that life has been throwing my way this year, but I decided against that. Instead of boring you with the details of the insanity happening behind the scenes, I thought I would just pick back up where I left off. And I have to say, I really missed it here. In this social media world of algorithms and trying to keep up with rules that are constantly changing, it's so nice to have a piece of the internet that is just MINE. I get to use this blog to write whatever the heck I want, and I love that I don't have to stress about how many views or "likes" it generates on someone else's feed. It's just mine. So, here's to that! And of course, what better way to return to my blogging hiatus then with a Friday Five post. I love doing these.
So here we go.
I'm in the middle of a full Gilmore Girls rewatch for the first time since 2017.
I forgot how easy it is to quickly dive back into this show. I've have rewatched various random episodes at random times through the years (especially in the fall!), like the Dragonfly Inn opening, or Rory moving in to Yale, just for a one-off situation. But, if you dive into the show from the start with the intention of going all the way through, it takes no time at all to be sucked right back in. I swear the town of Stars Hallow and all it's quirky residents are like a favorite pair of old slippers. So comforting.
If you're also rewatching a favorite comfort show lately, let me know which one!
Speaking of fall, a cozy season playlist is coming your way!
I have a lot of songs that I save just for the turn of the season that always remind me of fall and all things cozy. I thought I would create a playlist and share it here, but to mix it up, I also asked my community over on Instagram for some of their favorites, too! It ended up being such a fun idea to see what everyone submitted, and I don't think it'll be the last time I do this. Look out for that post coming later this weekend for the complete cozy season playlist!
One of the exciting things I did during my brief blogging hiatus was surprise my friend for her wedding in London!
This whole plan came about pretty quickly, after my friend's fiance secretely messaged me and helped me arrange to come to London for their wedding, but we didn't tell her! The whole surprise was SO wonderful, and getting to be there for their big day was such an amazing blessing. The entire trip was one of the best weeks of my life, and I miss them both, and the city of London, so dearly! I have more photos from the trip posted on my Instagram, so go there to check them out!
I started a new series on Instagram & TikTok!
This series is all about brands that I wish were more size inclusive. I'm really excited about this, and so far I'm loving it! I've already featured three brands: Doen, Zara and Evereve, and have a whole list of others that I want to feature. There are so many brands and clothing companies making drool-worthy pieces, but unfortunately their sizing is stuck in 2008. Tune in to my page on Instagram and TikTok @followthecurve_ to see this content!
I've made a bit of a career pivot in my 9-5 job, and I couldn't be happier!
Back in April I ended up getting laid off from my corporate job, and while it was extremely stressful and not at all what I expected, it ended up being one of the best things to ever happen to my career (I can't believe I am now at the place where I can finally say that - I was SO mad when I initially got laid off).
After a lot of back and forth, sleepless nights, and nearly stroking out from stress & anxiety, things are finally looking up. I am now at a place where I'm working for myself as a virtual assistant full-time! Woohoo!
I owe a lot of this to my friend Taylor (shout out to her if she's reading this), because she had a similar situation happen to her, and ended up becoming a virtual assistant working for private clients that hire her on for their own businesses. When everything hit the fan with my job, I picked her brain for a while and decided to take the plunge, at least until things shook out and something else potentially came along. It ended up being an amazing career move, and not even six months later I got to a place where I was doing this full-time for my own clients. Such a blessing.
Getting to work for myself has been one of the best choices I've ever made, and I'm not just saying that to sound corny. I truly love being my own boss, even on the tough days when everything is falling on my shoulders. I've always loved stepping into the role of an assistant, and I love that I get to do things on my own terms, for a variety of different clients. I've been working my ass off, and I finally see things starting to come to fruition.
Here's to that!
Have a great weekend, everyone!
XO Megan
