Friday Five – Friday April 23rd

.

Hi, friends! Here is this week’s Friday Five, let’s get started.

  1. So, it’s been a hot minute since the last Friday Five. Part of that was accidental, life has been extra chaotic lately with vaccination appointments, DeAndre & I’s move, starting new jobs and trying to keep up with stuff here. The other part was intentional. There is so much sadness, heartbreak, grief and loss happening in the world that I really felt that I need to pause and reflect. There were more important things to worry about, and I wanted to be sure to stay present with myself and my husband. I invite you to do the same with yourself and family.

  2. Another reason I have been burning the candle at all ends is because Beautycounter consultants are hosting a sale for our clients called The Friends + Family event! It’s been such a great way to extend a giant thank you to all the people who have supported our businesses this past year, especially during a global pandemic. Everything on the site is 15% off, so if you are in need to some clean skincare and makeup, click here to shop the special sale!

  3. My husband and I have booked a post-vaccination trip to our family’s condo in Florida, and we are SO. EX.CITED. We are in desperate need of a change of scenery, and a refresh for our soul. It can’t get here soon enough.

  4. Last weekend my husband and I decided to be tourists in our own city and go to one of my favorite places on this planet – The Art Institute of Chicago. We saw this absolutely amazing exhibit by a Black female artist named Bisa Butler. She makes portraits made out of quits and fabric, and wow. We were blown away. I highly encourage you to check out her work here, and if you’re in the Chicago area, go see i

  5. I decided that every week on Instagram, I am going to do something called Pass The Curve. This will be used to highlight a member of the BIPOC community who is a blogger, content creator, or small business owner of any kind. I realize that as a white woman, I need to use my privilege and voice to point to members of the BIPOC community who are also here doing the work. The world of blogging/influencing/Instagramming/owning your own business is all too favorable to white people, and that needs to start changing. I am still working out the details of what day and when, but it is coming soon to my Instagram account @followthecurve_.

Please be sure to take care of yourselves this weekend! Get some soul rest.

XO Megan
